Gæsteatelier Hollufgård præsenterer hermed udstillingen "- hvor går vi hen herfra?"
Fredag den 29. august 2008, kl. 16.00 – 18.00 i Skibssmeden, Tværkajen 4-6, indgang fra Havnepladsen, Odense Havn. Udstillingen er kurateret af Billedkunstner Jon Paludan og viser værker af kunstnere fra Fyns Billedkunstnerværksteder, Fyns Billedhugger Værksteder og Fyns Grafiske Værksted. Udstillingen vises til og med den 20. september 2008. Alle dage kl. 13.00 – 18.00.

De deltagende kunstnere er:
Jens Brinkmann, Pia Carlström, Gregers Damgård, Ingrid Duch, Camilla Gaugler, Inge Jakobsen, Kristina Krake, Kurt Dupont Larsen, Ole Lejbach, Pia Løye, Børge C. Meibom, Lars Mikkes, Anders Qvist Nielsen, Yngve Riber, Indigo Richards, Floyd K. Stein, Birgitte Struckmann, Yonna Tornehave, Henrik Troelsen og Lea Udsen.

Udstillingen i Skibssmeden på Odense Havn markerer et ønske om en mere central lokalitet i Odense til at udstille medlemmernes værker. Bygningen udstillingen foregår i, er midlertidigt stillet til rådighed af Odense Kommune for kulturel virksomhed, inden den skal rives helt ned, som del af den fortsatte forvandling på Odense Havn fra industriområde til beboelse og kontorer. Kunstnernes arbejde er desuden en del af problematikken om hvorvidt kulturel aktivitet i et område skal plejes, understøttes og udvikles, eller om der kun skal importeres blåstemplet kultur udefra. Udstillingen arbejder dermed i et frugtbart mellemrum, hvor Gæsteatelieret har mulighed for at definere sig selv på ny.

Med udgangspunkt i oplægget til udstillingen om at inddrage elementer af dialog og samarbejde betegner værkerne, hvad medlemmerne ser af muligheder for nye hybrider og mangfoldighed i forbindelse med det lokale kunstfællesskab. Flere værker indbyder besøgende til at genopdage både sociale og mere formelle muligheder i maleri, skulptur, installation og performance. Værkerne spænder fra hærværkets æstetik og løgnens nødvendighed for at få vores hverdag til at fungere, til udforskning af muligheder for samarbejde og dialog på udstillingen, værkstedet og i lokalsamfundet.

Press Release: "Primitives Collection Field" - an installation by Tommy Støckel

With the invitation to exhibit in Second Life Tommy Støckel has seen the opportunity to work in a Land Art format that under normal circumstances would be difficult to do in Real Life. Støckel has for a long time been working with accumulating simple geometric shapes to form complex abstract sculptures, and he has always seen the computer generated 3D object as an important point of reference. From a distance his sculptures resemble virtual objects, but at a closer look these sculptures have an obviously handcrafted quality using materials such as paper and cardboard.

Second Life is a new frontier to Støckel – a world where certain restrictions in our normal world are non-existent, and where new opportunities for artwork come into existence. The artist’s usual, not very weather consistent, materials would under normal circumstances be impossible to work with outdoors, but in this parallel world the single avatar has quite another control over nature: Objects can be made out of nothing and the landscape can be manipulated to suit the owner’s individual taste.

With the project "Primitives Collection Field" Støckel has chosen to work with a sort of virtual Land Art – an otherwise problematic genre to him. He has covered Boom Pearl's piece of land with geometric objects that have all been arranged in relation to the Second Life grid, which defines that entire world in metric measurements.

"Primitives Collection Field" consists of approximately 1,100 prims – or primitives – that have been made by disassembling a large number of freebies, and thereby reducing them to their simplest geometric parts. These are shapes, which one could call the building stones of Second Life, and which everything is build from. Freebies are free objects accessible to everyone that finds them, and Støckel prefers to use these free accessible objects in Second Life as his working material. Along with the Second Life grid, these modeled objects are an important part of the world, and Tommy Støckel thinks that a project in such a specific world demands that you relate to, and to work with, what is given in this particular world.

The installation can be seen until the 24th of February 2008.

at suomenlinna in helsinki, finland, i participated with
a search for a place to buy in second life at a summer camp
initiated by andrew paterson. other events were sharing of information
with caranvasari in istanbul through skype, and talks about critical mapping
as cultural herritage by Lily Diaz, g8, and skype games.

Tosselars and Igen helped 23 to get a hold on tvtvs transmissions of low level new bies walking from Menethil Harbour to Coldridge Valley.
Tosselars kept fire in the pipe and the comments, while Igen mastered life backup from the Lokal TV Guild.

Also it should be said that it was only possible to walk from Thunderbluff to Menethil harbour with a low level character, because high level players protected against higher level monsters.
